Making technology more human-aware and personal
Iβm a researcher and engineer who spent 12 years at Apple working on how technology can adapt to human diversity. I now focus on AI safety for Siri and Apple Intelligence, and previously helped shape how iPhone cameras represent peopleβs authentic selves.
My thing? Building AI that celebrates human diversity instead of reducing us to categories. Technology should meet us in all our messiness and complexity β not compete for our attention.
Recent Work
AI Safety & Human Agency
Leading safety initiatives for Apple's AI systems, making sure they behave appropriately in sensitive situations while preserving what makes us human. It's about building guardrails that protect without constraining creativity or curiosity.
Photography & Cultural Identity
I spent three years researching how people across cultures want to see themselves in photographs. AI classification of skin tone canβt capture the nuance of humans skin tones and preferences and instead we built tools that let users shape their own aesthetic. This research directly influenced iPhone 16 and 17βs camera technology.
Inclusive Technology Design
From improving face recognition across diverse demographics to developing better image descriptions for people with visual impairments. The goal is simple: technology that works for everyone, not just the people who built it.
Speaking & Sharing
At WWDC 2021, I shared practical methods for building more inclusive technology with the global developer community. It was about giving people frameworks for asking better questions and building with empathy from day one.
Beyond Work
When I'm not thinking about technology, you'll find me behind my camera capturing life's small, beautiful moments. I believe in finding joy in the everyday and bringing that same spirit of appreciation to everything I do.
