Making technology feel more personal through research and engineering

At Apple, I've spent over a decade making technology more personal for millions of users. My path from AI engineering to human-centered research wasn't linear - it was a journey to understand both sides of responsible technology development. I started by working on AI systems, then dedicated myself to understanding their human impact through human-centered research and cultural studies.

Today, I'm passionate about combining these perspectives to develop technologies that are not just technically powerful, but deeply respectful of human needs, values, and cultural differences.

Recent Work

I work on research exploring how personal and cultural preferences shape our relationship with technology. Recently, this has involved studying how different people want to see themselves in photos, contributing to camera features that adapt to diverse skin tones and put creative control in users' hands.

Earlier in my career, I worked on features to help people rediscover cherished memories and forgotten photographs. This work taught me the importance of balancing automated curation with user control, ensuring people always have a choice in how their personal memories are presented.

I also contribute to making technology more accessible and equitable, from improving how AI systems understand diverse faces to developing better image descriptions for people with visual impairments.

Speaking & Sharing

At WWDC 2021, I had the joy of sharing insights about inclusive design with the global developer community. It was a chance to help others think about how we can make technology work better for everyone. Watch the talk.

Beyond Work

When I'm not thinking about technology, you'll find me behind my camera capturing life's small, beautiful moments. I believe in finding joy in the everyday and bringing that same spirit of appreciation to everything I do.
